Gorillaz debut song featuring Robert Smith
Gorillaz premiered a new song featuring Robert Smith of The Cure.
Damon Albarn and Robert Smith revealed during a BBC interview today that they worked on "Strange Timez" earlier this year via email. Smith listened to the demo Albarn sent and agreed to the collaboration immediately -- Smith said he especially loved the trumpet playing on the demo which was played by Albarn's 9 year old niece. Albarn went on to give props to Smith, saying what he sent Smith was "very vague" and that Smith made the track what it is.
"Strange Timez" is part of the cartoon band's Song Machine music series that launched earlier this year. The series also includes "Aries" featuring Peter Hook, which premiered back in April. Both songs will appear on Gorillaz's full length album Song Machine: Season One which was also announced today and is scheduled to arrive on October 23rd.
