Morrissey announced the release of a 7 inch version of "That's Entertainment."

Morrissey's website Morrissey Central reveals that Moz's cover of The Jam's iconic track will be issued in October. Oddly enough, the website also states that:

"...the recording is not the aborted version from 1994, but retains the original Morrissey vocal."

The statement is puzzling considering Morrissey released a completed studio recording of "That's Entertainment" in 1991 as the b-side to "Sing Your Life." The cover was also included on his 1997 greatest hits collection Suedehead: The Best Of Morrissey.

Regardless, the version that will be issued in October is somewhat different from the one that was previously released; it will retain the original Morrissey vocal but will include newly recorded instrumentation and vocals (backing vocals). The 7-inch will be backed by a remixed live recording of Morrissey and David Bowie covering the T.Rex classic "Cosmic Dancer" which was captured in Los Angeles in 1991.

"Parlophone Records will release a 7-inch version of Morrissey’s “That’s Entertainment” in October. The recording is not the aborted version from 1994, but retains the original Morrissey vocal.New instrumentation and vocals have been added. The song is a cover version of the 45 issued by The Jam and written by Paul Weller. The flipside of the single is a re-mixed version of Morrissey and David Bowie dueting on Marc Bolan’s’Cosmic Dancer’. The live recording has been newly produced by Boz Boorer, and was recorded in Los Angeles.+ above photograph of Morrissey with his mother in Manchester, 1967."
