Mark Lanegan will release a new album and his memoir this spring.
The follow up to 2019's Somebody's Knocking is titled Straight Songs Of Sorrow and arrives on May 15th. The 15 track album, which includes guests Greg Dulli and John Paul Jones, came to life after Lanegan wrote his memoir Sing Backwards And Weep. Writing the memoir was a jarring experience that stirred up many emotions which he ended up working out through a new set of songs. These songs ultimately are based on his own life story.
Straight Songs Of Sorrow is available on crystal clear double vinyl and CD. Pre-order here and stream the first taste of the album, the track "Skeleton Key" below.
Meanwhile, the inspiration for Straight Songs Of Sorrow, Lanegan's 352 page memoir Sing Backwards And Weep will be published on April 28th. The book promises to be a fascinating read and has been described as a "brutal, nerve-shredding read" with "death and tragedy, yet also humor and hope." Pre-order Sing Backwards And Weep here.
