Legendary synth/moog pioneer Gershon Kingsley has died. The innovative German-American "Pop Corn" composer died at his home in Manhattan on December 10th at the age of 97. Kingsley's 1969 track is considered to be one of the first electronic dance tracks and has been covered over the years by a number of artists including Kraftwerk, Hot Butter, Marsheaux, and more. Kingsley's work popularized the moog synthesizer while his musical project First Moog Quartet is credited with being the first electronic act to perform at Carnegie Hall.
