Tim Walsh, guitarist for the legendary Manchester band Northside has died. The band broke the tragic news to fans on social media yesterday (August 20).
Northside formed in 1989 and were a staple of the Madchester/baggy scene in the early 90s alongside The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and The Farm. The band released several singles and their sole full length record, Chicken Rhythms on Factory Records in 1991 (Geffen later released the album stateside). After a long hiatus all four original members reunited in 2013 and played several live shows in 2014 and 2015.
Walsh's cause of death has not been announced.
R.I.P.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I write this as we are all still in shock, but our brother, friend, guitarist and inspiration Tim Walsh, has passed away. All our thoughts and love are with his family and friends.— NORTHSIDE (Official) (@NORTHSIDE___) August 20, 2019
We are absolutely gutted.
