Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds return with a new EP titled Black Star Dancing on June 14th. The five song EP features a slickly produced pop-dance title track which Gallagher says is a combination of his influences:
"It manages to combine the influences of David Bowie, INXS, U2, Queen, Indeep AND ZZ Top FFS!... I might have been watching too much Top Of The Pops recently ... anyway, it's ‘dope’ ... not my words, but the words of Nile Rodgers who literally danced in the studio when he heard it!"
Fans that were disappointed in Gallagher's last album Who Built The Moon? likely won't enjoy this further departure from his classic guitar-based Oasis sound, but he deserves credit for not being a one-trick pony.
The Black Star Dancing EP is the first in a series of EPs that Gallagher will be releasing in 2019. The second EP is due in the fall, and the final EP will be released around Christmas.
