Morrissey is releasing his cover of The Pretenders' classic "Back On The Chain Gang" on November 23rd. The single will be backed with a newly recorded cover of Gilbert O'Sullivan's "I Didn't Know What To Do." The single is available to pre-order here or here.
As previously reported "Back On The Chain Gang" will be featured as one of the bonus tracks on the forthcoming deluxe limited vinyl edition of Low In High School. The expanded edition also includes five live b-sides, three unreleased tracks, and a rare photo booth portrait of Morrissey. The release arrives on December 7th. Fans who purchased tickets to his forthcoming U.S. shows were given early pre-order access. Pre-order info for everyone else is expected to be announced soon.
Along with news of the single release, Morrissey has revealed that director Liam Lynch has created a promotional film for "Back On The Chain Gang." According to Morrissey the film is available "for anyone, anywhere who wishes to show it."
