The mighty Richard Ashcroft returned to the stage last night in San Francisco. The ex-Verve leader is the opening act on Liam Gallagher's all-too-short North American tour. The legendary Ashcroft delivered a majestic eight song acoustic set filled with swoonworthy versions of favorites from his catalog and a cover of Prince's "Little Red Corvette."
Not only was Ashcroft's performance entirely brilliant, but his stage banter was on point -- he thanked the crowd for getting it, poked fun of "woke" artists and the music industry, and revealed that he'll be releasing a new album in September.
