The Jesus and Mary Chain are releasing 21 Singles on vinyl for the first time ever. The compilation, which was originally released on CD in 2002, spans the legendary band's output from 1984 through 1998. As the title suggests, 21 singles are included; in many cases these versions are different/shorter than the album versions (ie, the single version of "Happy When It Rains" shaves off a glorious 30 seconds of the classic, the single for "April Skies" slices off almost a minute). Still, the compilation is an incredible and essential introduction to the majestic and sweet, sweet, sounds of JAMC.
The pre-order linkage for 21 Singles provided on the band's social media doesn't appear to be working, however according to a listing on Amazon UK the vinyl will be released on July 6th.
The Jesus and Mary Chain hit the road with Nine Inch Nails this autumn on Cold and Black and Infinite tour. The remaining tickets for the tour, including the October 22nd and October 23rd shows at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, go on sale May 24th at 10am.
