Today Cleopatra Records hosted a Facebook live event with Kevin Haskins in celebration of the new coffee table book Bauhaus Undead: The Visual History and Legacy of Bauhaus.
Some of the highlights from the 15 minute broadcast:
Haskins originally wanted to self-release Bauhaus Undead, but ran into financial and logistical issues so he decided to enlist the help of Cleopatra.
The memorabilia is mostly culled from his own archive. He began saving press clippings, reviews, photos, doodles, artwork, tour schedules, recording schedules, etc from the very beginning, though friends and fans provided some items that were missing.
Haskins flipped through the book to give viewers an idea of what's inside and it looks incredible. This is something any Bauhaus fan will want to check out, not just for the previously unseen photos, etc, but also to read the commentary/stories from Haskins. Haskins says he wrote about 30 stories for the book.
Ultimately Haskins says he created Bauhaus Undead to celebrate the band, and says fans will get to see the more humorous side of Bauhaus.
Haskins says he'll consider creating a Love and Rockets memorabilia book down the road, though he admits that he has less archival material to draw from, plus right now he's quite busy with Poptone.
