Noel Gallagher reveals "I'd love to start a band with Johnny Marr" talks LP, songwriting, scissors + more
Noel Gallagher took part in a video chat for the webzine Noisey yesterday. Gallagher was entertaining as always although most of the topics presented to him were predictable: he discussed his new album, songwriting, social media, and compared/contrasted making music in the 90s with making music today. Interviewer Eric Sundermann also attempted to steer the conversation towards politics several times, but Noel wasn't really having it.
Some highlights:
Noel was asked about co-writing songs with others and he said that if he's in a situation where he wants to co-write with others, he may as well just get together with that person and start a band. He quipped: "I'd love to co-write with Johnny Marr, but then again I'd love to start a band with Johnny Marr, you know what I mean? Or Weller...or Weller and Johnny Marr." This is where Sundermann totally dropped the ball because he didn't pursue that any further!
Noel talked a bit about the caped scissors player featured on his song "It's A Beautiful World" and revealed her name is Charlotte Marionneau. He called her "an absolute fucking hero" and revealed she also sings and plays scissors in her own band Le Volume Courbe.
Noel of course was asked about Liam - he said Liam is "obsessed" with taunting him on social media and "it's clearly intoxicating for him" but was thankful for the extra promotion for the album.
