Haçienda DJ/journalist Dave Haslam has written a piece for I Love Manchester about legendary recording studios in Manchester. Among the iconic studios featured:
Spirit, the 4 track studio where The Stone Roses recorded their first demo tape in 1984 (the space was also used by The Smiths for rehearsals); Decibel Studios inside Beehive Mill, site of the first recording from The Smiths; Indigo, where Buzzcocks recorded the debut EP Spiral Scratch; and Cargo which was utilized by Joy Division, A Certain Ratio, The Chameleons and more.
