He praised the Beatles, Sex Pistols and the Clash; revealed his love for Noel Gallagher's forthcoming album, and called Liam Gallagher's lyrics "substandard." Back in August, The Fall postponed their highly anticipated North American tour in order to give Mark E. Smith time to rest and heal. Smith had been hospitalized with a respiratory illness, but according to his management he was expected to make a full recovery and doctors had advised the legend that flying would likely compromise his ability to recuperate, so the tour was postponed.

The Fall returned to the road in the UK this week - with an ill-appearing but vocally-strong Smith performing in a wheelchair. Though Smith previously managed to performed in a wheelchair in 2009 while recovering from hip surgery, video from this week's gig paints a much more shocking and concerning picture.

Much love and healing vibes to Mark E. Smith.

Over the years John Fryer has produced countless influential and important acts - This Mortal Coil, Depeche Mode, Love and Rockets, Clan Of Xymox, Cocteau Twins, Yaz, Nine Inch Nails, and SO many more. Last year Fryer launched his latest project Black Needle Noise and since then has released two full length albums, including an 11 track record titled Lost In Reflections

Lost In Reflections features several guest vocalists, including electro-industrial pioneer Bill Leeb (Front Line Assembly/Delerium/Intermix/etc) on the standout track "A Shiver Of Want." The single is a rare one-off collaboration to feature Leeb on vocals - though he's highly sought after, Leeb is known to refuse most collaborative offers. He agreed to work with Fryer after the two met and hit it off in Norway a few years ago. Though it took some time for the stars to align, they finally got together and created the dark electro track.

Leeb revealed the inspiration behind the introspective lyrics to "A Shiver Of Want":

"To me, the lyrics are like you are peering through a looking glass at your life, as if it were a third person. You are trying to grasp its fluidity as it slips through your mind and soul, having absolutely no control of where it is truly taking you on its final journey. Somehow one tries to come to terms with this, but it never gives you a clear picture or resolves in your subliminal state or dreams.

Everyone knows it will end, but I do hope somehow a realm of consciousness will arise and we can all dream for eternity through our spirits. Yes maybe this sounds a bit optimistic, but we need to find hope in one form or another. A shiver of want."

Black Needle Noise recently premiered the video for "A Shiver Of Want" which was shot in Norway, the U.S., and Germany. Check it out below:

Lost In Reflections is available to purchase from Amazon, Bandcamp, and Pledge Music

Every Tragically Hip fan hoped and prayed the day would never come, but sadly Gord Downie of The Tragically Hip has died. The heartbroken band announced the news on their website revealing the rock legend passed away on the evening of October 17th at the age of 53. Read the full statement from the Tragically Hip below:

"Last night Gord quietly passed away with his beloved children and family close by.

Gord knew this day was coming – his response was to spend this precious time as he always had – making music, making memories and expressing deep gratitude to his family and friends for a life well lived, often sealing it with a kiss… on the lips.

Gord said he had lived many lives. As a musician, he lived “the life” for over 30 years, lucky to do most of it with his high school buddies. At home, he worked just as tirelessly at being a good father, son, brother, husband and friend. No one worked harder on every part of their life than Gord. No one.

We would like to thank all the kind folks at KGH and Sunnybrook, Gord’s bandmates, management team, friends and fans. Thank you for all the help and support over the past two years.

Thank you everyone for all the respect, admiration and love you have given Gord throughout the years – those tender offerings touched his heart and he takes them with him now as he walks among the stars.

Love you forever Gord."

Downie remained a creative force to be reckoned with until the very end - he recorded his final solo album Introduce Yerself over a four day period earlier this year. Downie was unable to live to see the album's release, which had already been slated to arrive on CD and digital album download on October 28th with the vinyl edition (double gatefold vinyl) following on December 1st. The release plans will stay intact and those interested can pre-order here.

R.I.P. to a legend.

Liam Gallagher appeared on the Late Late Show with James Corden last night.

It was somewhat of a surprise for Gallagher to even be invited onto the program, considering he called Corden a "knobhead" in a GQ interview back in August. After initially throwing a barb back at Gallagher, Corden (or his bookers) managed to rise above it all and Gallagher appeared on the program last night to perform "Wall Of Glass."

Gallagher later publicly rescinded his comments about the late night host, so the world can now rest easy. Check it all out below:

Noel Gallagher released the first single from his forthcoming album Who Built The Moon? today.

"Holy Mountain" is a colossal departure from what we've come to expect from Gallagher - not just musically, but with Gallagher's vocals. "Holy Mountain" is a slickly produced glam-pop throwback track, which is a bit of a surprise considering Gallagher's third album has previously been described as a "psychedelic rock record with cinematic production." Gallagher reveals "Holy Mountain" is about "the joy of love" and told the BBC that had the song come out in the '90s "it would have been huge."

Brace yourself for something quite different and take a listen to "Holy Mountain" (featuring Paul Weller on organ!) below or on Spotify:
