The Jesus & Mary Chain, Teenage Fanclub, Primal Scream, The Soup Dragons, The Pastels, The Vaselines, Creation Records' kingpin Alan McGee and more appear in a new film titled Teenage Superstars. The documentary is the second feature film in the Sound of Young Scotland series by director Grant McPhee which examines the Scottish independent music scene in the 80s. The first film in the series, Big Gold Dream was released in 2015 and the second installment Teenage Superstars picks up the story, focusing on the Glasgow scene from 1982 through 1992.
The success of Big Gold Dream helped partially fund the second installment of the film, but due to unforeseen issues, producers of Teenage Superstars launched a crowdfunding campaign to help with post-production costs.
