John Lever, drummer of the Chameleons died yesterday morning at the age of 56. His wife Lisa broke the news, revealing Lever died in his sleep yesterday after battling an undisclosed illness.
"It's with the heaviest of hearts that I have to inform you that John Lever passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning after a short illness. Me, his sister Angela, Mum, Dad & the rest of his family would like to thank you all for your love & support over the last couple of weeks.
Love and sloppy stuff always Lisa xxx"
Lever was a founding member of the Chameleons and played with the band until they broke up in 1987. He also was a member of Chameleons-related projects The Sun & The Moon, Red-Sided Garter Snakes, and Chameleons Vox.
