Ride are set to return with a new album this summer. Today Mark Gardener and Andy Bell appeared on BBC Music 6 with Steve Lamacq to discuss the still untitled new album which is currently being mixed by Alan Moulder. At the end of the interview Ride debuted an amazing brand new song "Charm Assault," their first new single in 20 years! Bell called the single "a kalidoscopic little tune" and revealed it was influenced in part by DIIV who opened for Ride on tour in North America. He also provided additional info on the track:
"Charm Assault is a pretty straightforward expression of frustration and disgust at the people who currently run our country. The tour in 2015 was a good way of reminding us what we were good at in the first place and Charm Assault feels like a natural continuation from our peak. When we started writing together again we tried to imagine we'd kept on making music all this time, and this was just the latest one."
"Charm Assault" is available now as a digital download and to stream. Head here for various options.
Ride's album will be released over the summer on Wichita Records, which brings Ride full circle -- Wichita was founded by Mark Bowen and Dick Green. The pair worked at Creation when Ride was on the legendary label back in the day.
