Lush confirmed they have officially reunited and announced plans for their grand return! So far plans include the release of a limited edition anthology boxset, vinyl release of their 2001 greatest hits collection, and worldwide live dates.
The five disc limited edition Lush anthology titled Chorus will house all three of the band's studio albums, two compilations, and previously unreleased demos, radio sessions, remixes and rarities. Chorus is set for an early December release through 4AD. The boxset will be preceded by the vinyl release of the band's 2001 greatest hits compilation Ciao!, which arrives in November. Official release dates and pre-order info for both collections will be announced shortly.
Along with the release info, Lush has announced one live date -- they'll perform at the Roundhouse in London on May 6th and tickets go on sale September 30th. More worldwide tour dates are in the works and will be announced in the coming weeks.
Miki Berenyi revealed to BBC Radio 6 that after 20 years Lush decided to reunite but it was a difficult decision. Berenyi said it was impossible for the surviving members to even consider a reunion for the longest time due to Chris Acland's tragic suicide, however for the last several years fans had been encouraging Lush to reunite and they finally decided to give it a go. Though the band has discussed the possibility of writing and recording new music they are taking things one step at a time and will see what develops. For now, they're focused on relearning their old songs (Berenyi's been utilizing old Lush videos on You Tube to relearn her guitar parts!) and are preparing for some live shows.
