In 1983 photographer
Laura Levine flew to Athens, Georgia to shoot an improvisational film with friends to document a place and time she felt would not exist for much longer.
R.E.M.'s
Michael Stipe, appeared in the black and white Super 8 film singing a cover of
Velvet Underground's "Pale Blue Eyes" (the cover had been recorded earlier in the day on a Walkman and featured
Matthew Sweet on guitar). As it turned out, the film, titled
Just Like A Movie, was never released. Due to the recent passing of
Lou Reed, those involved with the project felt it was an appropriate time to share the excerpt featuring "Pale Blue Eyes" as a tribute. Watch it below
