Perhaps Bernard Sumner was inspired (annoyed) by Peter Hook's book Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, or he was planning his own memoir/autobiography all along. Regardless, Transworld Publishers announced today that Sumner's book, which is still untitled, will be released this fall. Here's what Sumner himself had to say about the forthcoming book in a press release (via The Bookseller):
"Joy Division and New Order have both left quite a legacy but up until now I've been happy to let the music speak for itself. Somehow it feels like the right time to give my personal perspective both on my own life story and the many bands I've been in. I'm very excited to be working with Transworld on this book and to be published by the same company as the guy who gave us our first break, John Peel, as well as our former label mate Shaun Ryder."
The release date has not been announced, but it will be published in fall 2014. Maybe this will spur Hooky on to write his New Order book (the one he revealed will contain "filthy, dirty, dark secrets") a little sooner, than later.
