Johnny Marr is preparing to release his debut solo album the Messenger - the album drops worldwide on February 25th and in North America on February 26th. The album is streaming in full online - fans in the U.S. can stream it via Rolling Stone and it's available in the U.K. via the Guardian (the Guardian stream is no longer available in the U.S.)
Last week, Marr was interviewed on the BBC - one of the interesting parts of the interview comes at the beginning when Marr revealed he was inspired to start singing after the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde called him "a chicken" for not singing. Marr also told a story about Bernard Sumner being inspired by Kraftwerk, and how Sumner got some electro tips from Karl Bartos when they were on tour together in Dusseldorf. Near the end of the interview Marr discussed being a front man and gave praise to Morrissey, calling him "super brave."
