NME recently announced Johnny Marr will be the recipient of this year's Godlike Genius award which take place February 27th (and only two days after the U.K. release of Marr's debut solo album the Messenger). As a tribute to the Marr, NME posted a fantastic photo feature 'Johnny Marr - The Making of a Godlike Genius' with tons of photos of Marr's career -- from his early days with the Smiths all the way through his most recent musical projects. Marr is also featured in the latest video entry for NME's series Song Stories - discussing how he wrote the Smiths' classic, "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now." Johnny tells the story of how a new guitar helped him to write the classic song. Awesome moment: before strumming the riff for the song he warns everyone, "haven't played it after 25 years, so if I screw it up...you try playing it after 25 years!" Watch Song Stories below:
