Peter Hook has done a LOT of press lately as he's been promoting his memoir Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division (published this week in North America). MTV Hive posted their interview with Hook, and it's one of the best interviews because, unlike most of the other sit-downs with Hook, he doesn't spend too much time bashing his ex-bandmates in New Order. Though there is some of that, interviewer Eric Spitznagel manages to keep Hooky focused on recounting some pretty interesting stories, like the time New Order played a 20 minute version of "Everything's Gone Green" after someone threw a knuckle duster (brass knuckles) at them at a gig:
"That’ll fucking teach them to throw a knuckle-duster at me."
Hook also told MTV Hive his Joy Division memoir isn't filled with rock & roll excess but claimed a New Order book would be much, much dirtier:
"...the New Order book will be like Mötley Crüe...when I write that book, there will be some filthy, dirty, dark secrets coming out."
The best part of the interview is when we learn Peter Hook goes looking for Joy Division bootlegs each Sunday and he owns a Joy Division dildo (I don't want one, by the way, so save your money). Wonder if he's run into this.
Read the gloriously awesome interview with Peter Hook over at MTV Hive. Kudos to Eric Spitznagel on a great read! Read more from Spitznagel here.
