On November 13th Soundgarden return with King Animal, their first new album since 1996's Down On The Upside. The band have a LOT going on over the next little while to celebrate the release of their album and much of the activity is lined out below:
Webstream/late night appearances
On Monday, November 12th Soundgarden play a concert at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City for a Live On Letterman webcast. The concert streams live here and here at 8pm, and will be available for on-demand viewing thereafter (sometimes there's up to about an 8 hour lag before the concert is fully uploaded and ready for on-demand viewing, so don't stress if the archive doesn't show up for a good 8 hours post-show.) Soundgarden will also be featured on Letterman's late night show on Monday night (airs at 11:35 pm on CBS).
Soundgarden play a mini-concert for Jimmy Kimmel Live on November 26th. A portion of the mini-concert is scheduled to air on Kimmel's late night show.
Last week Soundgarden appeared on the BBC show Later...With Jools Holland. Watch the band's performance of "Been Away Too Long" and "Rusty Cage" here.
Tour:
Soundgarden kick off a 20 date North American tour in January and play the Fillmore Detroit on January 27th. The general onsale is Friday, November 16th at 10am through Live Nation, but fans who belong to Soundgarden's fanclub will have access to tickets starting Monday, November 12th at 10am. If you're not in the fanclub yet - no worries because it's FREE to join. Sign up for a free membership here. Keep in mind being a member of the fanclub does not guarantee tickets.
It's too soon to know what Soundgarden have planned for their North American tour, but if their November 9th show in London is any indication, the band will be playing hits, new songs, and even some VERY old songs from their catalog. Watch some awesome fan filmed video captured at the November 9th show here.
Incidentally, there's always rumors floating around about a Pearl Jam/Soundgarden co-headline tour (the bands share drummer Matt Cameron), but please disregard those rumors. Both bands have shot the rumors down and Cameron himself says there's no way he could physically handle a feat such as that.
King Animal album stream:
King Animal will finally be released on Tuesday, November 13th and the full album is streaming ahead of the release right now over at iTunes. Canadian fans: iTunes in Canada isn't offering the free stream, however the album has made its way over to You Tube, so you may want to head over there to check it out.
