British tabloid The Sun published a short story on the Stone Roses today. The paper quoted a source who confirmed the Stone Roses are working on new music and will likely release the album in 2013. It's no secret the Roses were planning to release something new--they signed two record deals at the end of last year, announced plans to record new music during their press conference last October, and back in May friends of the band reported a few tracks were already recorded.
A spring 2013 release date for new Stone Roses music sounds likely, especially because it seems to line up with rumors that are flying about the band playing Coachella next year as part of their North American tour (nothing has been announced yet, relax.)
The Sun's report also claims the Stone Roses are going to be playing a secret Olympics show in London. Read the full story here.
Meanwhile, The Stone Roses recently played the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. Liam Gallagher, who also played the festival with his band Beady Eye, was in the audience for the Roses' set and rocked out. If you've ever dreamed of watching Liam Gallagher rock out to the Stone Roses, your dream has been fulfilled:
