Noel Gallagher revealed he had to give his consent for Beady Eye to perform "Wonderwall" at the Olympics. Speaking with XFM last night before his concert at Dingwalls, Gallagher explained Olympic organizers contacted him for permission. Organizers sent a recording of a newly arranged version of the song to Gallagher, who eventually consented to the performance, but not before drawing it out a little bit. Gallagher told XFM:
"I did play a bit of cat and mouse with them for a few days - I took it 'til Friday night at ten o'clock before I said yes and they were shitting it. Not Beady Eye, the organisers. Because I had to say yeah and I was like...I'm not sure with this new string arrangement' and they were like 'fuck! the gig's on Sunday' so I was like 'okay, alright, you can have it then'."
Gallagher also confirmed he was asked to perform at the Olympics, but turned it down because they wanted him to sign a confidentiality agreement and originally wanted him to mime the performance!
