Part of last week's music news cycle featured various reports on Peter Hook's upcoming memoir on his days in Joy Division, even though news of the book surfaced earlier this year. Of course, XFM couldn't resist the opportunity to stir the pot catch up with Hook's ex-Joy Division/New Order bandmate Bernard Sumner to get his thoughts on the memoir. As you might expect, Sumner threw down a spark or two of snark:
“I’ve got to be very careful about my answer, it’s important...He was in Joy Division so he has a right to write the book...but he’s a very opinionated person and quite a lot of the time his opinions are wrong – so I’d be very wary of that book.”
Hooky's book, Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division will be released September 27th in the U.K., however fans in the U.S. will have to wait a bit longer. The paperback version of the book arrives December 1st and the hardcover version follows on January 29th.
Watch some video from New Order's recent concert in Berlin as well as video from a handful of stops on Peter Hook's recent U.K. tour. Perhaps if you play the videos at the same time, it'll be like New Order reunited. Or not.
