Peter Gabriel is releasing a new version of his 1994 live film Secret World Live later this month. The concert was originally filmed over two nights in Modena, Italy on Gabriel's 1993 Secret World Live tour while he was supporting his album Us. The restored concert film features improved quality and bonus features such as the addition of "Red Rain" and a photomontage slideshow for "Steam." Secret World Live will be released on DVD + BluRay worldwide on July 16th, and on July 24th in the U.S.
If you're wondering how a concert film is able to be restored, view the video showing the restoration process for Secret World Live. The video features interviews with those who worked on the project, plus you can see footage of the old and new versions for comparison.
More Peter Gabriel goodness is coming later this year, as he's set to re-issue his 1986 album So again (the album was previously reissued in 2010.) The new version of the reissue will be available as a standard cd, special edition 3 cd set, and super deluxe box set on September 18th. The re-release coincides with Gabriel's North American Back To Front tour, which sees him playing So in its entirety along with a selection of greatest hits. The tour itinerary (which includes a Detroit area stop September 26th) is posted here.
