Ian Curtis was born on this day in 1956.
As a tribute, I've posted the promo film for music photographer Kevin Cummins' 2010 photo book Joy Division below. Cummins is a well known photographer who shot tons of bands over the years (everyone from the Rolling Stones, U2 and Iggy Pop, to The Smiths and the Stone Roses) and was responsible for many iconic Ian Curtis and Joy Division pictures. The 20 minute video features Cummins' Joy Division/Ian Curtis photos, the story behind the famous pictures/photoshoots, and interviews with Cummins and those close to the band. Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris, and Curtis' daughter Natalie are featured, and there's also a very short audio interview clip of Curtis himself. In addition, Johnny Marr and Noel Gallagher also make a brief appearance. Take a look at the film below:
