Peter Hook has revealed to the BBC that he'll launch a master's degree program in music management promotion at the University of Central Lancashire. Hook has lots of experience to offer up, besides being a former member of Joy Division and New Order, Hooky will draw on his experience with Factory Records and legendary nightclub the Hacienda.
Hook has previously offered up band/management advice in his 2009 book How Not To Run A Club, but now he'll be personally teaching students on a one-on-one type of atmosphere. According to a report in The Telegraph, the course will be offered to 10 students who will be mentored "intensively," and will equip students with "business planning, presenting and formatting music for commercial release....as well as devising and executing marketing plans and promotional campaigns." Meanwhile, Peter Hook is set to release a new book about Joy Division before the end of the year. Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division will be released on paperback in the U.S. on December 1st and on hardcover in January 2013.
