Martin Atkins is about to release another book about the music industry called Band:Smart, and has set up a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the project. Atkins has lined up over 100 music industry insiders and offers up plenty of advice on what (and what not) to do to succeed in the biz. Find out more about Band:Smart on Kickstarter here.
Atkins has written two other books on the music industry - Welcome To The Music Business...you're FUCKED! (grab a free download here) and Tour:Smart. For those unfamiliar with Atkins, he was previously in Public Image Limited, Killing Joke, and Ministry (as well as other WaxTrax/Ministry related side projects) so it's fair to say he knows quite a bit about the music biz!
Atkins is throwing a free party on Monday, June 4th at the Double Door in Chicago to celebrate Band:Smart. All donations from the party (there's an Invisible Records auction and Bleeding Heart Bakery will be selling goodies) will go to help fund the book. Details on the June 4th event are available here.
