Gary Numan is preparing to hit the road for his tour and to help promote the gigs he sat down with the Arts Desk for an informative, and lengthy (it's an awesome five pages long!) interview. Numan talked about his career, videos, religion, his last album Dead Son Rising, the death of drummer Cedric Sharpley, and even his relationship with Trent Reznor. Numan was also asked about not wanting to take credit for being a electronic pioneer and developing breakthrough electronic sounds:
"...I did find that synth by accident. I’m not proud of that - I’m proud of how quickly I saw its potential and did something about it. It wasn’t as if I’d been at home and thought, what we need is electronic music and I’m going to make it happen. I’d have been really proud of that. I’m proud of the way I used that synthesiser. There were a number of people doing it at the time, most of them before I did. I saw an interview with Andy McCluskey [of OMD] and he thought of me as this Johnny-come-lately."
