Today's edition of The Guardian has a nice look back on "Miserable Lie," the classic* 1983 song from the Smiths. A gem from the write up is a Morrissey quote from a 1984 interview with the now defunct mag, Melody Maker:
"I'm really ready to be burned at the stake in total defence of that record. It mans so much to me that I could never explain, however long you gave me. It becomes almost difficult and one is just simply swamped in emotion about the whole thing."
Swamped with emotion. Awesome. Read the Guardian's feature on "Miserable Lie" here.
*I would argue that all the Smiths' songs are classics in their own way, wouldn't you?
