Soundgarden

Soundgarden has teamed up with Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock for the release of the Soundgarden's collection Telephantasm. Telephantasm is available bundled with copies of Guitar Hero this week. The collection will be available as a single cd (on its own without being tethered to Guitar Hero) starting October 5th. Killing Joke

A new cd from Killing Joke, Absolute Dissent, will be released September 27th. Check out "the Raven King" below.

The Radio Dept.

The Radio Dept is offering a free download of their song, "the New Improved Hypocrisy." The song is available via the Labrador website here. The Radio Dept is expected to release an EP in November titled Never Follow Suit.

Radiohead

It looks like new music from Radiohead is on the way, but according to bassist Colin Greenwood, the band is still deciding on how to release it. Read Greenwood's essay on the music industry and technology here.

Sex Pistols

The Sex Pistols are launching a perfume line this Friday. The fragrance concocted by Etat Libre d'Orange is expected to be available at New York's Henri Bendel, thefragranceshop.com, and other fine retailers.

Crocodiles

Crocodiles will release a new cd, Sleep Forever, on September 14th. In the meantime, the band is giving away a free 4-track ep titled Fires of Comparison. The ep (unlike the upcoming full length cd) is mostly instrumental--according to the band's press release, "both boys contracted strep throat from sharing a pipe with a hobo in Sand Diego's Preside Park, hence the lack of vocals." Nice.

The Social Network--official trailer

Spiritualized

Spiritualized played a one-off show at Radio City Music Hall this past Friday night. The band played the 1997 cd, Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space, backed by an orchestra and a choir. Below is fan-captured video from the show:

Malcolm McClaren, RIP

Malcolm McClaren, infamous manager of the Sex Pistols and major player in the British punk scene, died today at the age of 64.

Alex Chilton, R.I.P.

Alex Chilton died March 17th from a suspected heart attack. Chilton's band, Big Star, was set to play the South by Southwest Music festival in Austin this weekend. Mike Mills (from REM) will join the surviving band members onstage for a Chilton tribute/memorial tonight in Austin. Chilton was 59 years old.

Mark Linkous, RIP

Mark Linkous from Sparklehorse committed suicide yesterday. His death has been confirmed by his family. Read the Rolling Stone report here.
